Policy Healthcheck

A Policy Health Check is a service that involves visiting each commercial policyholder’s premises.

 

During the visit, we survey the property and identify areas of concern in relation to the conditions or warranties contained within the insurance policy. These warranties and conditions are critical, as failure to comply with them may threaten the validity of the claim.

 

The service is designed to educate policyholders and improve their overall understanding of their insured position. It compares to contractual requirements within the policy against the actual risks and covered perils present at the insured location.

This service can support both policyholders and brokers at policy inception or renewal by identifying opportunities for mid term improvements. These improvements help ensure the policyholder is in a stronger position so any future claims can be accepted in full.

 

The accompanying report provides practical recommendations to help reduce risk. Ultimately, policyholders benefit from demonstrating to insurers that they are responsible and proactive in managing their risk.

 

It also highlights potential problem areas before an incident occurs – issues that could otherwise lead to a claim being repudiated or significantly reduced.

Rebuild Cost Assessment
For Buildings

As one of the few RICS accredited loss assessing companies in the UK, we can support brokers and their policyholders by providing accurate building sums insured valuations prior to policy inception or renewal.

 

Asking a policyholder to estimate the cost of demolishing and rebuilding their property to modern building regulations, can be overwhelming and beyond their level of knowledge or experience. In reality, no two properties are the same and the total rebuild cost will vary significantly depending on the building type, construction, and individual specifications.

Calculating an accurate reinstatement value can therefore be complex. In many cases properties are undervalued, as a correct rebuild figure will often result in a higher premium.

 

This service can be rebranded and offered as a product by your business. As you know, it is ultimately the policyholder’s responsibility to obtain the correct reinstatement value. However, when this figure is incorrect, policyholders often perceive the issue as a failure of the broker due to inadequacies in the policy.

  • Our specialist team visit your clients property to document the damage, gather evidence, and assess the true extent of the loss
  • Policy reviewed and liability established
  • If it is a commercial claim, the Business interruption and increased costs of working is calculated
  • We compile all supporting information (photos, receipts etc), obtain estimates, and prepare a complete accurate claim submission
  • We liaise directly with Insurers/Loss Adjusters to challenge any discrepancies and negotiate you a fair and appropriate settlement
Stage Four

Restoration & Repair

You can then get to work repairing your property

  • Restoration company appointed to carry out initial clean-up works
  • Insurer approves building works and releases funds (either in full or staged payments) to allow work to start
  • Chartered Surveyor is appointed to your clients claim
  • Contractor of their choice is chosen to complete the work
  • Cash settlement received to allow your client to replace any damaged or lost items.
Stage Five

Back on Track

  • Review of the work carried out and keys handed back to your client
  • The client can move back into their home, or restart business operations, and get things back to normal
