Mr and Mrs R reported an escape of water claim to their insurers in December 2022. Their remotely situated holiday home had suffered significant damage when a frozen pipe inside the loft burst. Examples of the damage included collapsed ceilings and water damage to the partition walls from above. The water was also absorbed into carpets, soft furnishings, and interior doors.
As their claim progressed, the insurers left the policyholders in the dark as very little progress had been made. After seven months, the insurers still hadn’t commenced drying works or carried out mitigation. Unhappy with the lack of communication and delays, Mr and Mrs R engaged Oakleafe Claims.
Our claims technician Scott Keane, sprang into action, engaging the necessary experts and assistance to demonstrate to the insurers and their loss adjuster that the claim should be accepted under the policy, and the full value of the losses suffered by our clients, including the cost to repair the building, and the significant loss of revenue from missed bookings.
Despite the policyholder receiving a lack of support from insurers at the beginning of the claim, Oakleafe were able to achieve the best possible outcome for them. We obtained a sizeable cash settlement of £180,000, leaving the policyholder extremely happy with the outcome.
